A 70-year-old man in Saudi Arabia married a 15 year old girl after paying a large price to the girl's family. CNN interviewed the man and he said that the girl's parent sold her to him for $20,000. The whole story came out when the man complained to the police that the girl's family took her back and that he wasn't given his money back. The man refused to reveal his identity to avoid problems. Human rights workers say, there was a fight between the girl and the man and the frightened girl returned to her family. The girl's father is perhaps a Yemeni and her mother is from Saudi Arabia. According to Dr. Hadi Al-Yami, the head of the Asir branch of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), the girl is from Al-Hurath village in Jizan province in south-western Saudi Arabia near Yemen. The organization will provide the girl with all possible help, especially legal help, if the girl wants to cancel the marriage. Some groups like HRC demand that a minimum age be set for marriage and any girl wanting to marry before 18 years of age needs a court's permission. Many activists reacted on the social network to the happening: Mona Eltahawy, well-known Egyptian activist, tweeted, "It's only when there's enough public outrage that we can fight #childmarriage. We are not angry enough to help that 15 y/o & others like her." NoonArabia, famous Yemeni activist, tweeted, "#Child Marriage is a violation of human rights." Others like Kareem Bassem tweeted, "#Child Marriage is a result of dehumanizing female humans and degrading them to 'treats' in alleged paradise. Fight dehumanization!" Dr. Suhaila Zein al-Abedin, a member of the Saudi National Association for Human Rights twitted: "When you consider the very large difference in age, it looks more like this was not a marriage, but like the girl was sold. The girl's parents need to be held responsible for this,"
